Merry Christmas

Wednesday, December 24th, 2003

Somewhere in Iraq a soldier is spending Christmas Eve standing watch in hostile territory.
Tomorrow morning a child will awaken to Christmas short a parent who is risking his or her life to make the world safer.
For us, money may be tight, but at least we are together.  We have it pretty damn good.

Right to Trial and Council Confirmed

Thursday, December 18th, 2003

The U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals has confirmed that the president of the United States does not have the power to detain an American citizen seized on U.S. soil as an enemy combatant.  This is a good thing.  If the government can declare anyone they want as an “enemy combatant”, the right to council [...]

The Communist Worker’s Daily New York Times has an article about outsourcing programming overseas.  One particular line from the article stands out, “Low-skill jobs like coding are moving offshore and what’s left in their place are more advanced project management jobs.”
Programming is a low-skilled job?  In what universe?  All too often, the project manager doesn’t [...]

Ass-Hat of the Week - European Union

Thursday, December 4th, 2003

It was a difficult choice for the Ass-Hat of the Week Award.  It came down to Hillary Clinton for her idiot remarks to our troops in Iraq or the European Union for shelving a report on antisemitism because they weren’t happy with the connclusion.  The magnitude of the EU’s stupidity far surpasses what [...]
