Bond Issues

When voting on ballot measures, I have one unbreakable rule.  Always vote no on bond issues, even when I agree with the subject.  A bond issue is passing the bill to our children.  That is wrong.  I used to allow for an exception with educational bond issues.  However, after California threw a few tens of billions of dollars into the school blackhole with no improvement, I realized the problem was with the teacher’s union and not financial.  Therefore there are no longer any exceptions.

This means I will vote no on proposition 71, funding for stem cell research.  I’m all for stem cell research and think Bush is being a narrow minded idiot by cutting off funding, but I will not hand my daughter a six billion dollar bill for something when she has absolutely no say on the issue.
