CD Copyprotection
I rip all my CDs to the computer because it’s so much more convenient. I can play anything I want without having to dig through a stack of disks looking for the one I want. I can also access my music collection from work since I’ve set up my server to stream tracks which I select. Access to my music is password protected and is not available to the public. This is called “Fair Use” and is a legal right.
For Christmas I received a music CD. My first attempt at ripping it resulted in errors. Ah, ha. The old corruption in the first data track trick. Ignored by music CD players, but on PC’s you can’t play or rip the tracks. On a Mac it is downright deadly, crashing the system and locking the CD drive, requiring a trip to the repair shop to put things back.
For me, the copy protection was nothing more than an annoyance. I simply made a duplicate of the CD with a standard CD copying program, then ripped from the duplicate.
Note to Sony/Epic and the RIAA: Kiss my ass!

LMAO.
Who do they think they are? And what do they take us for?
