The Bitch at 1:24
Unless you are deaf, you have undoubtably heard of Susan Boyle by now. If you haven’t heard her sing, please go to youtube and hear her rendition of I Dreamed A Dream now. You might wish to keep a box of tissues handy. Trust me on this.
Over and over in the comments for the video are references to the bitch at 1:24. This teenage girl had the bad luck of being on camera at exactly the wrong moment just before a phenomenal performance by a woman who does not meet the media stereotype of a popular singing sensation.
So who is this little bitch? I am. You are. The entire audience and the three judges. We can try to avoid our own shame by pointing fingers at that girl, but let’s be honest with ourselves, we are just as guilty. We rolled our eyes, we made faces, we groaned at the expected train-wreck to follow. After all, we wanted it. We only watch the first round of talent shows to laugh at the people who are too stupid to realize they should never perform in public.
I am ashamed of myself and what I was thinking. I look forward to hearing her wonderful voice again. As someone put it in the youtube comments, “I will listen if she sings the side effects off a prescription medicine label. Yes, she is that good.

I agree Susan Boyle is utterly amazing. The best part for me the first time I saw her sing was the reactions of the judges and their comments afterward. Essentially, they were judging the book by it’s cover and were happy to have been proven wrong.
