The U.N.

The Security Council voted 11-0 to adopt the second United Nations resolution in two months that presses the government of Sudan to end the humanitarian crisis in Darfur, where the US said genocide is being committed.

The second resolution in two months?  People are dying and all they do is say “Stop!”.  Or what?  They’ll say “stop” again?  Yeah, that will work.

The government of Sudan doesn’t care what the UN has to say.  The only thing that will stop the killing is a show of force.

Heh. Seems I’ve become more of an anti-war hippie without your influence Rossz. U.N. resolutions may do nothing, but we shouldn’t immidiatly retaliate with force. There’s so much mroe that the U.N. and the countries in the U.N. could do before we decide to start another military campaign.

Tell me, how many deaths are considered acceptable while waiting around for the U.N. to do something?

So it’s much more acceptable to send in our troops to invade and potentialy kill hundreds, not including casualties we might recieve ourselves? And honestly, beginning another conflict with another couuntry while we are still stuck in Iraq is not a very good idea.
There has already been talk of the draft just for the Iraqi situation.
By the way, did you see the debate last night? I really love Bush’s “deer stuck in the headlights” look.

Where did I suggest the U.S. should invade?  I simply stated that people are dying while the U.N. does its usual nothing.

But in all honesty, a “show of force” by the U.N. would probably involve the bulk of any military action to be headed by the United States. I doubt many other countries are as willing to become as involved as the U.S. tends to be in military actions.

  6. Rossz Says:

Ah, so you finally agree with my original post: The U.N. is useless.

it was the “The only thing that will stop the killing is a show of force. ” that bugged me.
